Check to see if Firework Stock is in Scraps

Any stock provider that has fireworks posted in the gallery may now have them posted in the scraps due to a change in sub-cats. This was done directly by

and not from the CVs. Stock Providers must put them back into the gallery under different categories/sub-cats. The best choice will probably be Stock/Nature/Skies and Space. If there are buildings, "Stock/Places/Exterior" could probably be used, albeit I saw some that WERE in places with obvious buildings as the focus still moved to the scraps. Another thought is if the fireworks look especially "firey" a good choice would be "Stock/Nature/Fire".
:iconcongratsddplz: An inadvertent problem has surfaced, which has affected me and others who have received DDs on their fireworks: The dialog box for the DD is still under the artist description but the DD is NOT showing up on the DD page for the given deviant.

Resources Gallery Makeover (REMINDER)So all those sub cats...
Its no secret that the stock and resources gallery is HUGE. On a scale thats intimidating, complicated and a bit like a bottomless pit of sub, sub, sub, sub, sub cats.
Last year we were very lucky to have a bit of a makeover job in Resources/Fonts and Resources/Stock, however, we are looking with "new deviant's eyes" (Yes, we kidnapped new deviants and stole their eyeballs) to look at our gallery long and hard. HARD.

Do you know of sub cats that are completely obsolete that we could tidy up and get rid of?

Precut stock - all the problems :/
Precut stock is something that like Marmite, people either love, or hate. Either way it brings its own special issues to stock providers and photomanipulators alike, so I've highlighted some very important points you should take into consideration below.

Precut stock is in its very nature "EDITED" therefore its is no longer in its original photographic form and should therefore be posted to resources/clipart OR stock/premade backgrounds/.. NOT to the usual stock galleries which should be reserved for original photography that has only very minor post production edits such as exposure/brightness/contrast etc. alterations according to DA's gallery definitions.

Just to let everyone know, STOCK GROUPS I am founder of or admin (except for #Stock-For-Premades and groups with stock folders ~ see below

), do not have limits on submissions per day. These include, but may not be exclusive to,

#Fantasy-Stock-Group

#Joint-Stock

#WingIt-Stock

#Clear-Cut

The above groups allow members to submit stock by other providers. No one has to be a member to submit, so send links in a note and the stock will be invited in. There is no need to submit to faves as the stock will be gladly accepted into the gallery. Make sure ALL submissions follow dA's TOS and © policies!! NO screenshots/caps or Google Images!! Premades MUST have the credit of the other stock providers in the artist description as per dA requirements!!

The Stock Folders at #Holidays have submission limits of four-per-day as per group rules. You do not need to a member to submit. Just send a note with the links and the stock will be invited into #Holidays

#Stock-For-Premades has a limit of submissions of five-per-day. Stock providers must be members to submit at #Stock-For-Premades

The stock folder at #Mindspan has a limit of ten-per-week. Membership is automatic, as well as submissions. Members may submit the stock of other stock providers.

Your Personal Stock TermsThe Language You Use Is Very Important
deviantART has a large and devoted stock resource community and we really do appreciate their presence and their generosity with the community.
I do have something very important I'd like to mention for everyone who offers some sort of stock resource so hopefully those who read my journal will help to disseminate the information and spread it around to those who might not otherwise read it.
The concern that I have is Terms of Use.
Officially deviantART maintains only one "automatic" restriction and that is "No Commercial Use" and that particular restriction can easily be overridden by the actual stock provider.
As far as official policy is concerned each stock resource provider is free to attach any Terms of Use, restrictions or requirements that they see fit and I and my staff will do the best we can to help you enforce your rules when you need the assistance.
We only ask a few things from you in return.

Problems with Stock ResourcesLock, Stock, and Barrel
It unfortunately appears that it is once again time to talk about proper stock resources again. I'll be addressing this in this week's CEA Update but I wanted to discuss it a bit informally here first.
I have a hope that some day the issue of stock resources will get straightened out because it really is not as complicated or as confusing as many people are currently forcing it to be, but I guess the nature of the internet pushes people to simply pull the old smash and grab.
I'm going to run down a brief listing of the various problems and pit falls currently affecting the issue of stock resources in general.

Now we all know there are a good number of legitimate, legal stock resource sites out there with some being free and some being pay sites. A good chunk of you all can name them off the top of your head so I won't bother to list them myself.

Size Requirement Changes
As you may have noticed, the minimum size requirements for stock have recently changed! ^Elandria and I are very excited about this.

About sxc.hu stockGreetings!
A few of you have been really worried lately about using stock from sxc.hu here because of the change in their ownership. Basically, you were concerned that their license says that you cannot redistribute their stock in whole or in part, by itself or combined with other elements, without the written approval of the original photographer.
As we all know by now, creating a photomanipulation is considered "making a derivative image." And we know we can't make premade backgrounds without permission from the photographers, as doing so is redistributing their work.
I advised a couple of you to check with the Help Desk and sxc.hu to find out the whole truth before making rash decisions about your group that could potentially make everyone panic.
Using my own personal account, I wrote to sxc.hu to find out what the story was. Here's what I said:

No limits on submissions. Work must be your own. No screenshots! All submissions must follow dA's rules and terms of service.

All winged resources are welcome. Birds, planes, Poser fairies, brushes, fractals that look like wings, etc. as long as they are winged resources. Members may submit the resources of other deviants. Submit those stocks the same way and an invitation will be sent to the stock provider to have the stock put in the gallery. Please submit to the correct gallery
